ROCKLY ROAD
Rockley Road Renovation
THE BRIEF:
The brief called for a renovation that complimented the original Wayne Gillespie design. With a clear vision for the kitchen and finishes throughout the home, the client’s decisive input streamlined the planning process, paving the way for a seamless build.
BUILDING DETAILS:
The layout of the existing over-sized ensuite was significantly changed to create space for a luxurious walk-in robe and ensuite.
Finishes included oak engineered flooring in a chevron pattern, engineered stone, natural stone, porcelain and ceramic tiles in the bathrooms and bespoke cabinetry with engineered stone tops.
THE CHALLENGES WE FACED:
Part of our scope was to remove the existing ground floor tiles and install engineered timber flooring. When we pulled up the tiles we found there was a 40mm-thick screed under these tiles, which meant that laying new 20mm timber flooring was going to make the first step of the staircase much taller than the rest. Installing a new screed on the ground floor was the best solution to ensure compliance.
Once we began demolition, we uncovered outdated wiring and plumbing that didn’t meet current code. These issues weren’t visible during the initial inspection, but they needed to be addressed to ensure the home was safe and future-proof.
RESULT:
Rockley Road Renovation beautifully combines refined, seamless finishes with the original Wayne Gillespie design. The client was delighted with the level of finish and, as is so often the case, commented that the end result was better than what she expected.
